Attitudes, preconceived conceptions are ingrained in racism. Racism is learned from others who have considerable influence in their lives such as parents and peers: experiences in school; and social messages in film, television, and the news media play a huge part in negative reports per the author.
Can one overlook the stings of racism? Do people of color turn their head and accept the old-fashioned racism (beliefs that Black people are inferior and should be segregated). The effects are not intentional; rather, the article suggests, it is partly because Black people seek to overcome old-fashioned racism and respond to the viewing tastes of Black audiences that local television news programs reinforce modern racism. In 2017 I purchased a home in Rowlett, Texas. I have a White Supremacist as a neighbor. The week I moved in he began to park in front of my mailbox and this went on for months. He despised me and the fact a Black female had purchased the house next to him. This made me feel extremely uncomfortable in the neighborhood. He is still and I am still there. After complaining so many times, the police asked him why he did it. He said, “because I can.”
Racism is present and real and the nation is going backward instead of forward to make . I continue to pray for my neighbor. I believe in God and I prayed for deliverance and to accept what I cannot change and I prayed for peace of mind and the Lord restored my peace.
